Rice Bowls Rule for Sandella’s Restaurant Chain
At college campuses with a Sandella’s Flatbread unit, students with a yen for a quick, healthy and tasty meal often pick Sandella’s Rice Bowls, reports Mike Stimola, president of the 125-unit, West Redding, Conn.-based fast-casual restaurant chain.
They have three variations to choose from: the Black Beans & Rice Bowl ($6.29), with black beans and mild salsa over fajita-seasoned white rice, topped with cheddar jack cheese; the Cheddar Chicken & Broccoli Bowl ($6.49), with grilled chicken and broccoli over white rice topped with cheddar jack cheese and Sandella's Brazilian Sauce, a spicy mustard condiment; and the Chicken Fajita Bowl ($7.29), with grilled chicken, green peppers, red onions and mild salsa, over fajita-seasoned white rice and melted cheddar jack cheese.
Each Rice Bowl has two cups of steamed U.S.-grown, long grain rice and is served on Sandella’s signature flatbread, which is made into a concave shell by oven-baking it in a bowl. Low in calories and fat, each Rice Bowl is about 14 ounces and serves as a substantial, filling meal.
